Kindle Fire Market Opener

If you’ve rooted your Kindle Fire and installed the Android market APK, you may have noticed that the Market icon does not appear in the stock launcher’s app list. Market opener fixes for that problem. It’s a simple shortcut that launches the underlying apk via an intent.

Update: Irock23 has made an updated version with the new play icons, and my market opener now has 2 versions, on with market icons and one with Play icons. You can download any of the apps below. All apps now appear properly in the MRU list thanks to Irock23 as well.

  1. [...] Marketplace Opener homepage Tags: android, kindle, rooting, software [...]

  2. If anyone wants something like this that has the Play Store icon and name, you can find it here: http://www.mediafire.com/?uumbhw1b834whwb. Since the name and icon was changed, I thought some people would like an app that would launch the Play Store on the Kindle Fire and show up as the Kindle Fire. I know I would. So I made this app that can be used the same as the Market Opener above.

  4. Sorry to triple post, but there shouldn’t be in hyphens in the URL. I don’t know why it did that.

  6. Can’t seem to get this to show up on my Kindle’s UI. I can launch it after it installs, and managed to install some apps from the market, but no icon shows up anywhere after that. Tried both Market Opener and Play Store Opener.

My kindle’s system version is 6.2.2_user_3205220

  7. @Snorket27 it’s not showing on the carousel or in the apps list? That is odd. I’m on the same build as you and the market opener shows up for me. You can try opening up settings->more->applications and picking “all applications” from the dropdown and finding “launcher”, then force closing it to force it to reload and look at the apps again. Also, have you tried rebooting?

  8. fantastic, I really love stock. I just fully rooted and I am running the stock prerooted rom. When I first rooted, I went with go launcher just so I could have quick access to the play store. NO more, I can stick with stock thanks to you!
